Has anyone had experience with ammonia stripping when a compound such as MIBK has been present? I have tried on a pilot scale unit to produce a 25% w/w ammonia stream overhead and experienced some difficulty condensing the ammonia at elevated MIBK levels in the feed. Even after employing a cooling water stream of close to 40 F the overheads would not condense. The pilot scale unit has been used to produce similar streams in the past, but organics were not also present.

The feed contained 330 ppm MIBK and 2800 ppm NH3 at a pH of about 11.

Essentially, I am looking for information on the effect on condensing an ammonia/water stream in the presense of relatively high boiling solvents.
