Insulation For Butene Spheres

Many of the butene spheres operating at ~ 6bar and ambient temperature are provided with 70 ~ 100 mm Fire protection insulation and some are not provided with insulation. I presumed that the insulation is to protect the loss due to vapourisation at very high ambient temps like 50 degC and also to some extent protect the contents in case of external fire. Am I right? If that is the basis for providing insulation, why it is not provided for all the butene storage vessels operating at ambient condition and ~ 6bar pressures.

Your assumption as to why insulation is provided is basically correct. But, it seems to me, that your last question can only be answered by those who originally specified the equipment.

Possibly someone who is more familiar with this will jump on and help out. I am also requesting the administrator to move this post to a more appropriate forum where you might reach a broader audience.
