Hi All,
I am designing a Vapor recovery Unit for the Tank Farm Area. I was calculating the breathing losses (breathing losses for day/night temperature differential) for the tanks and was wondering if we can use some credit for insulation. I have gone through API 2000 but it does not suggest anything.
Can anyone please comment
Thanks

I believe that you can do so, in fact it is reasonable in many cases to modify the requirements of API2000.
First, read the rationalization for it and you will see that it is a very conservative approach to venting requirements. The conditions stated would not be realistic for many installations, including say, and indoor tank.
The reason it is accepted is that the cost of large venting is very small in relation to the cost of most tanks and the penalty for undersizing is great.
If you are able to determine in and out flows with some accuracy for your application, I see no reason not to do so, keeping in mind the ramifications of undersizing.
