Dear All,
As you all know popular simulators like HYSYS and PRO-II have dynamic depressuring modules for blowdown calculation.I see some people that instead of using these modules, use a J-T valve to throttle the pressure of a stream downto 1 bar and study the minimum anticipated temperature which is used for vessel material selection. They claim that using J-T valve will result in the worst case in terms of metal temperature because in this case no internal energy is transfered from the metal.
I doubt that this method is correct or not.I am willing to read your valuable comments regarding to this method.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
