Hello All,

I was wondering if there is any reading material available in the market or on the internet on the subject topic.What i am basically looking for is a book or article with illustrated examples (with P&IDs), examining each overpressure cause or source of overpressure (blocked outlet, fire case, hyd expansion etc), and whether the cause is applicable to the given system.I am comfortable doing the relief load calcs once i have firmed up the relieving scenario but to start with i tend to have doubts whether I have missed out any scenarios when I am analyzing systems for failures.I know that evaluating relief scanarios is mainly about common sense,engg judgement and experience, but if there is material available it would be nice to get a better "feel" of the subject.

I just want to emphasize that the most direct answer to your particular question will be to read API Standard 521 Jan 2007.
