I am in the process of reviewing relief valve calcs for a large facility. I have run into several situations wherein the original "max flow" cases involved steam and the person(s) performing the calculations used 150 ft/sec as the flow through lines. Since several sets of conditions (pipe diameter, pressure, saturated vs super) were involved, I am led to believe that the 150 number must be a rule of thumb number? Thanks for your help.
