What is the type of rupture possible in a plate of a plate and frame exchanger?

How big will be the rupture and what is the cause ?

What are the parameters needed to calculate the relief flowrate?

Corrosion, stress cracking, etc can lead to failure of plate and potential results catastrophic failure.

There area many parameters affecting relieving flow which rather same as tube rupture in shell & tube heat exchanger. One of the major parameter is the maximum area which is normally twice the maximum area of a "tube" cross sectional area. Read more here
