Hi all,

to evaluate fire exposed area, I'm looking for an expression to approximate the surface of 2:1 ellipsoidal heads when partially liquid filled in horizontal tanks (function of D and liquid depth, i guess...).

Any suggestion?

Many thanks in advance

Try to get a copy of the following article:

"Accurately determine wetted surface areas needed for fire relief applications" by Richard C. Doane, Chemical Engineering, December 2007

Many thanks CMA010 for the reference .

It was what I was looking for.
