i have to make a project on energy conservation and optimization in hydrocracker unit.can anyone help me.how do i go about it?....any tips, advice will do

wth energy optimizn i mean -
-equipment optimizn in the hydrocracker unit..
-steam balances in the unit.
-preventing leakages.
-checking on insulations...

i dnt no hw to go about it.from where should i start.what data should i see frm the control rooms.wat data sheets should i refer to ..please help..........
