Dear all

In LPG recovery unit, it is necessary to wash the LPG feed with caustic in order to absorb the H2S. I want to know about maximum concentration of H2S in feed that can be removed by caustic.

most of time H2s should be removed in sweetening unit with Amins compound (like MDEA or DEA)
and caustic is good for mercaptane , ofcourse in case of H2S present it reacts with caustic and eventually forms sodium sulphate , causing plugging problem
