Pl. tell me that how one can know the leakage in undergrond pipeline & how can it be rectified

We would suspect a leakage if there is reduction in pressure downstream of the leakage..possibly at a terminal or a gathering station.But locating the exact point of leakage is not so easy for long cross country pipelines.
