Dear all,

I would like to know general practice for minimum flowrate of centrifugal pumps.
(Assume. rated capacity 50m3/hr/pump, minimum flow 10 m3/hr/pump)

Case1) Using a restriction orifice for minimum flow line.
1-1) 2 working, 1 stand-by pumps
1-2) 3 working, 1 stand-by pumps

Case2) Using a flow control valve for minimum flow line.
2-1) 2 working, 1 stand-by pumps
2-2) 3 working, 1 stand-by pumps

And all pumps are installed in common suction line and discharge line.

What is the flowrate of a restriction orifice and a control valve for each case?

Best regards,

prengr,

Vendor is the best reference for specifying the value of the pump's minimum flowrate.

Dear prengr:
Mr Fallah exactly correct but type of centrifugal pump is very important i determination on minimum flow
for example the between bearing type need more min flow than overhang type or for multi stage type the arrangement of impeller has too much effect in min flow determination.
you must check with vendor and API 610.
