I am looking for a right design of a mist eliminator/demister pad for chlorine scrubber tower. I mean on what basis we design the MOC,micron rating, void, and thickness of the pad.
kindly give some insight on this topic.

Chandan,
1. The MOC of the demister is decided by the compatibility of your process stream and is generally in the licencor domain. And it is always advisable to check with the licencor before finalizing on the MOC.
2. By micron rating, I suppose you want to be sure of the amount of entrainment/ maximum droplet diameter that can be allowed to pass through the demister. This is dependent on where your demister is placed in terms of the process. In case it is upstream of a compressor, I would expect it to be very tight.
3. Void and thickness of pad again would depend on the micron rating and also tendency of your system to foul.
In a nutshell, most of the times, the type of demister with micron rating is a given parameter (generally provided by the Process Licensor) and the scope of the designer is to size the demister based on the K-values (similar to C factors) for the optimum diameter required.
