Dear All,

I need a format for Technical Specification as a Process Engineer ( for packages, equipments, ...).
I wish to know the items included in a typical technical specification.

I would be grateful if anyone help.

Thank you in advance.

Dear thorium90,

Thank you for your reply,

The file is useful to me. But Technical Specification for packages is a report not a calculation file. I need a report format

Thank you again.

Hi freeman (nice name!),
technical specifications for packages vary according to the type of package.
For instance, the following plants can be specified as packages:
- gas and liquid driers,
- PSA,
- membranes,
- refigeration cycles,
- nitrogen and oxygen generators,
- arsenic removal and other gas/liquid catalytic purifications,
- vapour recovery units,
- flare gas recovery,
- amine units for CO2 and H2S removal,
- glycol dehydration,
- glycol injection and reclamation,
- .....
If you want a specific help, feel free to contact me thru the "mail" button to provide the details.
Regards

freeman,

A technical specification to a great extent will be specific to the type of package for which the technical specification is required. However, the contents of a technical specification could broadly cover the following:

1. Introduction:

This may include the purpose of the specification, project background etc.

2. Scope of Supply

This would include what should be the minimum requirement in terms of the components of the package including breakup of the components, their quantity, foundation loads, anchor bolts, lubricants and consumables, painting requirement, insulation requirement, installation details, as-built drawings and documents etc.

3. Design Standards for the package item and components(Company Standards, International Standards such as ASME, API, ISO, BS, DIN, JIS etc.)

4. Design Requirements

This would specify the detailed design requirements for the package and performance parameters of the package items. This would include sub-sections related to design requirements of various engineering disciplines such as piping, instrumentation, electrical, civil etc.

5. Performance Guarantees

This section would elaborate on acceptable performance from the package item and the guarantee test run for the package including the period for the guarantee test run, free replacement of defective components etc.

6. Inspection & Testing

This section would include the inspection of the equipment at the vendors workshop and testing for a stipulated period of time. In other words this would provide details for the procedure of "Factory Acceptance Test" (FAT) and "Site Acceptance Test" (SAT).

7. Vendor Data Requirements

This section would define the minimum vendor data requirements in terms of drawings / documents and the number of sets required for them as hard copies and electronic files.

8. Spare Parts

This section would define the commissioning and operation spares required as a minimum and the the duration for which the spare parts are required.

9. Assembly, Packing and Shipment

This section would define the appropriate assembly, packing and shipment of the package item to ensure that the item arrives safely at the site

10. Pre-commissioning and Commisioning

This section would define the pre-commissioning and commissioning requirements of the package.

11. Site or Meteorological Conditions

This section would define the site conditions at the site where the package needs to be installed.

These are general guidelines and you need to expand these based on your specific requirement and the package requirement.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Ankur.

Dear Ankur2061 and gegio 1960,

Thank you so much for helpful information
.
The package is Demineralized Water Production.

Is the process description included in Technical Specification?

If you have any sample documents as a file, I would be grateful if you share with me.

Thank you again

Freeman,

The project background is provided which explains the need of the package. For your example of a DM water package, you would probably need to provide where you are going to use your DM water, it's specification and the source and quality of the make-up water.

Regards,
Ankur.
