Hi there,

I'm currently doing a optimization of distillate hydrotreating as part of my final design course study.

I'm suppose to model a distillate fractionator (crude tower) to simulate a current refinery plant. I've created a distillation atmospheric distillation tower based on the inlet and outlet conditions given. Pressure and temperature were gathered from live plant data. However the simulation produced product yields where the residue (heavy distillate) and diesel (light distillate) contained water content of 38 kg/hr and 86 kg/hr. Most of the water from steam and inlet feed goes from the partial condenser.

Is there anyway for me to adjust so that approximately 1000 kg/hr water comes out from residue and 2000 kg/hr water comes from diesel as these are the specifications under the current plant operation. I've tried to input/adjust pump arounds, water flowrates, steam flowrates, but these results only increased the water content by 10-20 kg/hr.

I do not have HYSYS for this project, but if anyone is familiar with VMGSIM or distillate fractionation, let me know if there's any suggestions or alternatives to meeting this specification.

Much Thanks!
