 Test Procedure of Cobalt Dry

Problem: Weigh to the nearedt1 mg, a test portion of the drier containing approximately 120 mg of cobalt into a 250 ml flask. Add 25 ml of 1 mol/ lit. Hydrochloric acid solution and heat to Boiling Then cool it to ambient Temperature.

 

Dilute with 100 ml of the 2–Propanol ass 15 ml of the 40%m/m aqueous solution of Hexamethylenetetramine and0.050 gm of the xylenol orange/ Potassium nitrate mixture.

 

Titrate with 0.1 mol/ L standard solution of EDTA until the violet color just changes to yellow

 

% of Cobalt = Volume of EDTA used *0.1*5.894/weight of the Sample
