Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a natural gas treating project for an upstream facility. I am currently trying to model a TEG dehydration unit in HYSYS. I have sucessfully done it in PROMAX before, but first time in HYSYS. I am having issues with converging the glycol regenerator. Can someone kindly look at it and help me understand where am i going wrong...

I have been trying to upload the HYSYS file here, but I keep getting an error "Not permitted to upload the file".

I can email the simulation file, if someone is willing to look at it and comment

Thanks

Purva

Why are you modeling it in Hysys, if you already modeled it in ProMax? That would be like driving a BMW and then trading it in for a Fiat.

Hi,

You have specified the column with a full reflux, however, you have specified condenser and reboiler temperature as 157.2C and 204.4C. Your feed concentration has 68% CH4 and 1% N2. Because of their boiling points, hysys can only calculate a condenser temperature of -15C and a reboiler temperature of 121.2C, therefore it fails to converge as you have specified unreasonable conditions.

Additionally, you have made a fatal mistake by sending the flash gas to the regeneration and not the liquid. The article below will explain what is a TEG glycol dehydration process. It would appear you are not familiar with what you are simulating.

On a side note, it would always be good to save as hysys .xml files as .hsc files are not backwards compatible while .xml are. Therefore, for better sharing on forums, it would be good to post the backwards compatible version.
