Ive been investigating the dosing of a hot water system we have on site that comprises a number of sections of pipe and a number of hot water baths/vessels, only some of which are connected and "on line" at any one time.
The system is dosed with biocide from a single point in the system. I have been asked to devise a strategy for dosing the offline baths. The easiest way to do this is to cycle through, bringing an offline bath into service, alowing the doesd water to run through for a set time and then move on to the next bath.
Unfortunatly, I cant remember how many times the volume of dosed water I have to add to the undosed to be able to say, with reasonable confidence, that the bath has recieved sufficient dosing.
IIRC, there is a rule of thumb for this, i just cant remember it.
For eaxmple, if the bath has a volume of 10m3 of water, how much doesd water would i have to add to displace the undosed water and be able to say the bath is now fully dosed.
Hope that makes sense.
