Hi,

is anyone has experience that the actual operating temperature is higher than the design temperature for a shell and tube heat exchanger? we have a problem here that the design temperature of the heat exchanger itself is 150 degC and the temperature interlock for the inlet fluid is set as 150 degC,  but in actual run, due to the design issues, the possible operating temperature that the hot stream can go during start up is 150 deg C.  we are intended to increase the safe operating limit of the hot stream from 155 deg C base on the stress calculation of the heat exchanger shown that is still possible to run at this temperature with the conditions of duration.
