what is the use of specific surface area?

Let you try google to support your query ! Your question is too vague ( could be for packing in absorption tower , for catalyst,etc).

thank you breizh. For sizing Contactor in glycol dehydration there are two type of structured packing avaliable. (ie) 250 type structured packing and 350 type structured packing... on what basis i have to choose that?

If you are not familiar with process dealing with packing , I will recommend you to contact the vendors . To support your query I've added some literature .

Dear

Mass transfer is based on the Specific Surface area of packing (Either structure or random packing). Higher the Specific surface area of packing more will be the mass transfer and more will be the pressure
