Dear Process Expert

Let me know is there any written experience for using HOT Oil (Dowtherm for example) in Crude Stabilizer Reboier or using Direct Fired Heater.

When we use Fired heater and when we use Hot oil

Someone told me in cases that multiple user for heating is available in a production unit then hot media become feasible but for single heat source need in stabilizer we can use Direct Fired heater.

Also people worry about coke formation during Direct fired heater.

However I found several installed porduction unit that use direct heater without problem.

I need this information today. Please...

Best Regards

In my opinion:

If you have a plenty of heating thermal oil then use heat exchanger for heating, otherwise fired heater is better because will reduce process equipment and only one equipment (fired heatr) is needed.

Robert

Mr Robert heating crude oil by thermal oil (MOBILTHERM) is practical in my plant, but using fired heater directly has many practical difficulties.  If like to do, simulate the results on HYSYS/HONEYSIM and let me know.
