Dear Members,
I am studying an Olefine Conversion Unit for modeling purpose. This unit in refinery undergoes a metathesis reaction in which olefins combine to form propylene. In this unit there are some Feed Treaters which treat the hydrocarbon feed comprising majorly of C2/C4 olefins and remove the catalyst poisions. These treaters need to be regenerated after a certain period of operation. The regenration occurs by natural gas and butene. The reason why butene is being used for regeneration is not clear to me. Any insights I can get on this will be helpful for me. If I can get some literature on this subject it will increase my understanding of the process.
Note: The treaters remove compounds like oxygentaes, alcohol and water (by adsorption) as they act as poison to reactor catalyst as the reactor is at downstream of the treaters.
Thanks & Regards
