hai friends, I am doing M-Tech in chemical engg and selected cryogenic air separation process simulation as a project. After B_Tech I worked in air separation plant, based on that experience I selected this project, while simulation of process in Hysys platform I am getting following difficulties, Selection of MP distillation column from Hysys shortcut columns distillation column without reboiler Selection of LP column from hysys shotcut columns Distillation column with out condenser. Linking of supply hot streams and return cold streams (outputs of distillation column) at LNG heat exchanger Please help in above points and I also attached worked hysys file for your reference. I attached PFD's (hand made) also

Please zip the file and attach it.

 

Also prepare a good single page pfd and attach it..The given diagram is too untidy.

 

What I get from the diagram is it's an N2O2 plant without Argon .Is it so ?

 

Why do you need Shortcut Columns,a refluxed absorber and a reboiled absorber will serve as HP Column and LP column respectively.

 

The statement that Linking of streams from Column in MHE is not happening is quite,why can't you link those streams.Are you getting Temperature cross?.

 

Also please quantify the model.Air Flow and Pressure,Booster Air Compressor Pressure,Turbine configurations and finally Product specs.

Shortcut columns will not be adequate for this model. you need to use a full distillation block.

Dear Friends.

 

I attached my hysys file. I am going with Rebiled absorber as the LP column and refluxed absorber as the MP column.

 

Please go through the attachement and help me in convergence of the process.

Unfortunately the build of the Hysys you are using is higher than the one I use ,so can't access the same.It would be great if you convert the ffile in.xml format,i.e please sace as hysys case files in .xml format.

Sorry for the delay caused,  I was tied up at the work front.  I have simulated the plant as per your spec,please review the same at your end and let me know if it serves the purpose.  There is a slight mismatch in the duties of the Reboiler and Condenser; I am trying to find out the reason behind this.

Please,for a quick simulation of air separation, can I use only a splitter? I am using aspen hysys v8.4.

Not sure about the Splitter operation,but if your aim is Quick simulation why don't you try the shortcut Column.

I've went through your file and couldn't figure out how to converge it.

 

Can you please reattach the converged one? 

I first try to solve the problem by converging the post process of first file presented by chowdary and still  giving me consistency error.

I Compeleted the Chowdary simulation too and put it on the Previous Post. this attached file in the converged one.

 

Please after open file, run the Distillation column. this error occur because  type  file most change to XML for uplod to this post.

I have gone through your file (although superficially), and I find there is wide spread difference in the reboiler and condenser duties.  Being an integrated reboiler-condenser configuration, we need to match those values for an Air separation unit to work.  The file I attached too had a certain mismatch but not to the extend your file shows (The reason being the plant we are simulating is a partial part of an Argon separation unit).  Need to compare both the files.Please check at your end too.  At current state, this simulation will not work.

I went through the SCADA you have posted and would tell me which SCADA is this from?  I just like to know the detail or background of this SCADA. and where this plant is and what is this ASU is for? For example, Is this ASU is for some gasification needed process?

I'm in BE final year mechanical, I like to be good cryogenic engg In final year I selected Heat transfer, RAC & cryogenic subjects as an elective. After doing BE what should I do? Cryogenic books are expensive can anybody suggest me thanks for urs considerations,Sir.
