Dear member,

 

I got trouble in finding a reference material regarding 3 phase horizontal single weir separator. In Shell DEP, they only have details regarding double weir. If you do not mind, could you please share with me regarding the sizing for single weir separator or just any reference material. I have to do the rating for the single weir separator.

It doesn't matter if it is single or double weir. Use the same criteria and methods.

Hi Bobby,

 

I am curious but how could it be the same? There are both heavy collection and light collection compartment in the 3 phase separator for double weir, but in the case of single overflow weir, there is only light collection compartment and the separation compartment. Also, the interface level for overflow weir is well defined while for the double weir it is ILL-defined.

Could you please explain more or do you know any useful reading materials or articles?

Try GPSA section-7 "SEPARATION EQUIPMENT", It has sizing criteria for 3 phase horizontal separator ( single weir Plate).
