Hello,

I am currently simulating vacuum distillation in hysys.

Are there any resources that point towards how costs change as you approach closer to 0kPa? Looking at using vacuum pump at the moment...

What are the cost considerations I should take into account in my design?

Appreciate any help / resources thanks!

Regards,

Wilson

Hi,

Cost depends on size/scale of your equipment.

You should also check the availability of vacuum device once your scale becomes so large.

The lowest pressure attainable by liquid ring vacuum pump is typically in the range of 10 torr.

Combination of liquid ring vacuum pump/ejector/dry pump might give you lower pressure.

As long as I know, in petrochemical field the lowest practical column pressure is about 1~2 torr.
