Hi Guys,

currently I am doing a design project for purification of uranium hexafluoride, as I am using the FUG method to calculate theoretical number of trays .

Problem faced: 1. Unable to find the tray efficiency

Will it be okay to assume a 100% tray efficiency?

Hi,

Let you google tray efficiency versus type of trays ! This should be a starting point.

Hi,

Be clear with terminology.

"...to calculate theoretical number of trays"  <> number of theoretical tray

One theoretical tray = one equilibrium stage, thus efficiency is 100%.

FUG method will give you the number of theoretical tray required for the separation.

To get the number of actual tray, one quick way is to divide it by "overall efficiency".
