Hi good morning.
We are currently employing a thermal desalination technology for our treated water needs.
Pipings of our distillate product and all downstream pipings are of killed carbon steel (KCS) material. Since our operation, we noticed high iron content of our product water. This lead to the idea of corrosiveness of the desalinated water.
Initially we suspect dissolved gases as the main reason for the high corrosion rate. However, were unable to identify other root causes.
Aside from the dissolved gases, does the purity of water (conductivity ~5 uS/cm) also cause corrosion?
Please help me out.
Thank you.
