Dear engineers:

Recent days I just coming cross a problem, maybe it sounds a little bit silly, but still thanks a lot in advance for any feedback.

I am designing a thermal oil system, after calculation, I find the system expansion is around 7m3, the client tells me he's already purchased a expansion tank of 2m3 during phase I of the project, so he suggest I can use the existing tank the hold 1m3 expansion and he will buy another tank to rest the others, both tanks can be installed in some way maybe in parallel to work properly.

So now I am not sure if his advice is feasible from the operation point of view?

I am no familiar with the design of thermal oil system, so any advice is appreciated.

thanks

Hi,

A designer who isn't familiar with the design....! Am i wrong?

Anyway, uploading a simple sketch of the system along with the complementary info might be useful to advice.

Dear Fallah:

Following is sketch of the system I am working at, as I mentioned above, the client has already purchased a expansion tank of 2min phase one, but it is not big enough to hold the system expansion volume, so they decide to put another tank of 7mthis phase, and put it on the building roof which is the highest point of entire system; so I want to know if the system design is okay? will the both expansion tanks work properly?

Any advice is appreciated.

thanks a lot.

Hi,

At a glance, it should be noted that if new purchased tank has volume of 7 m3 then would cover whole system expansion and using 1 m3 tank in parallel would be meaningless...

Dear Fallah:

Sorry for my mistake, the purchased tank shall be 6m3, not 7m3;

Hi,

If both expansion tanks are closed pressurized type, appears can do the job instead of one 7 m3 tank volume...
