The oil characterization is simple in ASPEN HYSYS when we have ASTM D86 data. But our client has provided the ASTM D 5307-97 data. (see attachment).

How can I use these data to characterize oil in HYSYS?

or

Is there any way to convert ASTM D5307 to ASTM D86?

Please Advice.

To do a simulation of a crude oil or condensate a TBP curve is required.

ASTM D5307 is a Simulated Distillation using GC. It is very close to, but not exactly the same as, TBP.

As the client provided only a few points you can just as well assume that it is exactly equal to TBP, as with only the above info you cannot really do accurate simulations anyway.

Thank You Ping Pong for your reply. I will try this as TBP data.

That is all you could do with the available information.

But in your place I would ask the client to provide a more detailed oil assay, especially if I had to design (and guarantee) a fractionator for that oil.

Please help me to calculate Crude Oil Characterization using either

  1. ASTM D86

or

  1. TBP

Which one is more accurate ?
