Dear peers,

Both multiple tube passes and Floating head (S or T rear head) add complexity to the exchanger. I am wondering if there is a tube pass limit when S or T head is used. For example, for an AET exchanger, is 8 tube passes too many? I appreciate the comments from peers if you have experiences dealing with floating heads.

Thanks.

The maximum number of tube passes depends on the shell size. The maximum number can vary from 2 to 24 passes. For example our in-house software sets a maximum of 16 tube passes for a 30 inch shell.

Hello,

Is it a generic question or you need inputs for a working case. You can give us background of the system you are dealing with so that forum members can give useful opinions. Preferred tube passes in floating head exchangers are even; but odd passes are also done with expansion bellow at rear head (floating head side) tube side outlet nozzle. This is quite generic info.
