Our reaction system has 2 phases, Vapor, liquid.  The overall vapor volume fraction in the reactor is about 50 vol%.

The reaction is a homogeneous reaction in liquid, and the vapor in the feed reacts and changes to the liquid phase.

Which type of reactor is recommended??

Our candidates are a CSTR (continuous stirred tank reactor), a Column Reactor,  and (?? )

And do you know a "reactor selection criteria"??

I'll appreciate your answer, Thank you.

You don't explain clearly what your feed conditions are and how your reaction takes place.  You also fail to state if it is exo- or endothermic.  That is very important in selecting the type of reactor as well as to any heat rejection (or absorbing) rate.

Are catalysts employed?  what type?

Is the reaction a batch type (in a kettle); or is it continuous?

Do you require an overhead condenser?  are inerts involved?

Do you require agitation?

Are the materials of construction exotic or expensive?

etc., etc., .......

Our reaction system is;

- Exothermic reaction.

- Homogeneous catalyst. (In Liquid, Organo-metallic)

- Continuous process.

And we don't know whether an overhead condenser, inerts, agitation are required.

In our lab, We use a stirred-tank type and cooling coil.

If you want to get more information, please reply.

Thank you for your answer.

So, what are you producing? Ethylbenzene or something similar?

Is it a reversible reaction? Do any side products need to be removed?

You can also consider a loop reactor.
