Hi everyone,

I am an engineer at gas processing plants in West Texas. I am trying to do a very ROUGH calculation of the conditions for a recip compressor blowdown. Generally I'm looking for an equation that relates the initial volume of gas, initial and final pressures, blowdown time, initial and final temperatures and size of RO. Any good suggestions?

Thank you.

Why don't you use what you know and show us a calculation, or method. You don't want us to do all of your work for you, do you? If you are a Chemical engineer, this should be easy for you. If you are not, then surely your organization employs one who can solve your problem for you, or, at least provide a good start.

Then you can use Crane handbook to size the orifice.  For temps you have to consider wall temperature or fluid temperature.  Fluid temp. you can use adiabatic assumption.
