Dear All,

I am operating a flue gas co2 recovery plant in Pakistan. I wanted to know will liquid co2 automatically flow into the storage tank form the shell and tube heat exchanger once liquified??. How will I know if co2 is being liquified and being transferred into tank rather than in just gas form??. Is there a need of installing a valve onto the line going from the liquefaction unit to the tank?

Regards,

Hasan

Hasan:

Gravity flow from the CO2 condenser and into a storage tank is being done every day.

You know the CO2 compressed gas is being liquefied because the condenser vapor space remains as the CO2 saturation pressure (usually around 250 psig - and the liquid level in the tank increases steadily.

You need a valve to isolate the tank upon shutdown.
