how do you estimate the number effects needed for a series of evaporators without considering economic costs involved? If this is possible? what are the parameters/ variables needed?

thanks..

thank you Sir Breizh but nowhere in the page you have given is telling me how to estimate the number of effects. Anyway, I asked my friend about this and he mentioned something like in an evaporator system of N effects 1 lb of steam fed to the first effect will evaporate in all about N lbs of liquid. He said it's some sort of an observation and he doesn't have any theoretical proof of this.
