Steam Blow Out Procedure

Dear :

We want blow out our low steam pressure line at following condition:

1- pipe length :500 meter

2-steam pressure :5.5 barg

3-pipe diameter  : 40 inch

what size of temporary line (end of main pipe) you offer ? (diameter , length)

Good day!

 

  1. It is general practice to use same size for blow out as the main header.
  2. Also a copper target plate need to be installed in the out let to veryfiy the cleanness of the pipe
  3. If you can share more details , i will be in better position to asist

Normally the procedure is given by turbine or boiler manufacturer However if the plantg is old following documents may be referred

 

  • Advances in Power Plant Steam Blow Cleaning Analyses
  • Cleaning of Main Steam Piping and Provisions for Hydrostatic Testing of Reheaters (GEK - 27065D)", General Electric Co.

you may find the procedure these documents on internet
