Dear all,

Currently I am involving in the compressor station with parallel configuration. I am attaching the sketch with this. We are depressurizing the station in the staggered way. The anti-surge header is connected to the suction manifold. While depressurizing the compressor suction manifold, considering anti-surge valve is Fail open and all volume in the compressor loop will be depressurized through suction manifold and this increasing the flaring capacity. Please provide some suggestion to avoid the increasing in flaring capacity.

Please advise is right to provide ESDV in downstream of anti-surge valve with a time lag. Once compressor gets tripped with certain time lag the ESDV to be closed to avoid the increasing in flaring capacity.

At first glance, this appears to be a poorly designed system. As to depressure flow, choose what will not overload the flare.

Hi Raj.R,

Your sketch is impossible for us to see where location HP flare header tie in with existing compressor. Therefore we can't give to you suggestion. Normally, BDV valve plus with RO for avoid flare capacity excess. It  always connect at downstream of discharge cooler and during compressor depressurize at abnormal condition then anti surge valve and BDV should fully Open for pressure relieve.

You can't install ESDV valve at downstream of anti surge valve. This is wrong design and unable to protect compressor by reverse rotation while depressurize case due to have differental pressure between discharge.to suction.
