Hello Gents,

I have psv installed at the top of expansion bottle ( 6" pipe  )also protect downstream piping 3".My client said me to size it for fire.

Fluid is LPG.

I know fire scenario is more credible with the vessel but my question can i assume my piping as a vessel( 100% full) and calculate mass relieving rate?

Please find attached snapshot and my calculations.

Thanks

SHAMI234,

If the trapped LPG in the pipe segment which may subject to fire would be less than, let say, two tons (appears to be less than) no need to consider PSV for fire case and only needed to a TSV for thermal expansion case...

so do i need to size TSV. I think there is adequate size in API 520 to use as standard. Right?

SHAMI234,

For the case you provided relevant info, appears a 3/4"*1" TSV would be enough to release the liquid volume change due to thermal expansion...
