Dear Members,

A drain pot is provided in flare line between Flare KOD & Flare tip. I want to find out the properties of condensate coming out of drain pot when it fills above a certain level. Vapor fraction of Incoming stream to drain pot is 1.0 & mass density is 3.5 kg/m3.

I have currently simulated drain pot as 2 phase separator, but the mass density of condensate coming out of 2 phase separator is 3.5 kg/m3 which is not possible in reality.

Kindly advise how to find the properties of condensate coming out of drain pot.

Thanks in advance.

from your report it would seem the software predicts only gas phase,

if you are sure some condensate must form at specified operating conditions

check composition, operating conditions and models,

if you have two different phases, vapor and liquid,

density is a good indicator (far from critical area) to identify the state

(liquid has higher density than vapor),

I have a different software (Prode Properties) and I can't help with details

but this seems a problem simple to solve...

The drain pot will only see liquid that was entrained in the vapor from the KO drum. Use the same properties for the drain pot liquid that you used for the KO drum liquid.
