Client want to cool the  20 MMSCFD gas (Methane 100%) from 42 deg C to 33 deg C. Water is available at 28 deg C. My question is approach temp 5 deg is not too ambitious? Then what would be cheapest way to manufacture the heat exchnager. Normal shell & tube heat exchnager would require extra cooling tower to cool the water and pumps to pump the water (Plant does not need cooling water for other process). Iis there any way to integrate this three equipment to something like wet surface cooler or others?

Temperature approach of 5 deg is not too ambitious. It is quite workable.

Although your exchanger may be little big but looking at overall economics, single exchanger will be much cheaper that going for exchanger with cooling tower, etc.

However, most importantly make sure that 28 is your maximum temperature of water else your exchanger will fail in summers.

Lets see what experts say about this.

Water is available at 28 deg C.
If the client has cooling water available at 28 oC, then why would you need to supply a cooling tower or a WSAC?

I think we are confused by your query. Want to try again in regards to what water is 28 C?
