which are the main limits (pressure , temperature) of application for the solid models available in Prode Properties ?

I can select between two models, however there is little difference in resulting phase equilibria,

do the models have a specific area of application ?

I am interested to read comments from users.

I think this topic has been discussed in this forum (see old posts),
accordng my experience :

1) both models work reasonably well (without specific BIP) for simple (hydrocarbons etc.) gas-solid equilibria as for example CO2 freezing prediction etc.

2) for liquid-solid equilibria you may need to tune the model (i.e. regress BIPs) to get accurate results, a typical example could be prediction of freezing point depression due to alcohol in water, predictions are acceptable for low fractions of solute, if you increase the  alcohol fraction then you need to tune BIPs to obtain accurate results

3) I have no direct experience with prediction of WAX (solidification) or similar problems but I know that these models can be used for that, too

hoping this helps,

Paolo

I agree with Paolo,

the limits depend from application,

you may need to regress parameters to get accurate results.

I have calculated some freezing point with Prode,

solid models shouldn't be limited to low pressures

while there are limits in the range of temperatures.

perhaps a good textbook discussing phase equilibria could help,

the models for solid fugacity in Prode (and other simulators)

are not too complex (with the exception of hydrates)
