Dear:

I want to calculate the back pressure of PSV or BDV. We know back pressure can be calculated by means of hydraulic calculation, Flarenet or HYSYS simulator. In fact I want to calculate the pressure drop of natural gas through tail pipe by means of hydraulic calculation. But we know the gas flow rate is very high when blow down, and the accurate friction factor under high Reynolds number with 10-100million is unknown when I use D-W equation to calculate the pressure drop. So I want to ask you here which fraction factor equation I should choose to use. I dont konw how to determin the friction factor. This confused me long time, Can you give me some tips?

thanks in advance for replies!

Petersky,

Let you try this xcelsheet or Google " a review of of explicit approximations of Colebrooks' equation"

http://nptel.ac.in/c...w_potential.htm

Hope this helps

petersky,

In mentioned situations you are normally faced to choked flow; then having a practical approach try to use Fanno lines to meet the requirement...

Thans for your rely. I'm a young engineer working in China and I am designing the blow down system for the biggest undergroung gas storge. I dont have  so much experence for the project. Can you introduc the approach in detailed ?

thank you!

I find it useful. Could you recommed me some famous Handbook for Natural gas engineer?  Because I am a young engineer and hvve to learn more from your experenced predecesors. Thank you!

Petersky.

You may try "Bai Du" as a search engine, they have an English version !

Definitely GPSA (Gas Processors Suppliers Association)

a few documents attached to support your work. Good luck!

Thank you so much.  You are so kind and it is really not convient to connct cheresource in China because of firewall. I am communicating with you via the VPN. So I wish to consult you with e-mail. Could you send me some message to 316658269@qq.com and then I will rely you quickly. I really want to make friends with you. In the end forgive me for my poor english.

Gook luck!
