Have you ever seen a well head without a self-actuated wing valve? At what scenarios, it is preferred?

Say, a well head is without this wing valve. Can the safety factors be met by putting a shut down valve at the down stream of this well head, actuated by a PSL and PSH?

Depends on wellhead completion design.

Generally oil wells the WV is not actuated and is manual.

Gas Wells WV is actuated by hydraulics.

Dynamics of the system is required to be studied to specify the response time of shutdown system.
