I am a chemical engineering student from the Philippines currently conducting a research about phase change materials.
The idea of our research is to incorporate calcium chloride hexahydrate and coconut oil.
We are aware of the disadvantages brought by the calcium chloride hexahydrate during phase change(phase separation and supercooling) and we found some researches that succesfully cured the disadvantages by addition of some substance.
We are facing a problem of phase separation since these two definitely would not bind. Can you suggest ways to bind the two?
Also, we thought of dissolving the calcium chloride hexahydrate in water, then add it to the coconut oil and form an emulsion. Then encapsulate it. But we are not sure if that would work either. Will this work?
If anyone is interested with our research, we would be very glad if you will email us: ixide20@gmail.com
Thank you so much!
