Dear all,

Does PSV required, if the well fluid flowlines are designed for shut in tubing pressure. As per API RP 14C, PSV is not required only if the design pressure is greater than shut in tubing pressure of that well, Please clarify?

Do i need to provide PSV, my design pressure of well fluid line is 250barg & well shutin tubing pressure is 250 barg? Please clarify my doubht?

Tamizh,

I think it means PSV isn't required if design pressure of the well fluid line is greater than the pressure developed following to blocking the flow from well head i.e. "shutin tubing pressure"...

Dear Tamizh

Can you please be a little specific on your design, whether the downstream equipment/pipings are also fully rated? If not whether they are designed with PSV for blocked outlet case? Or they are equipped with a HIPPS?

Regards

Dear sir,

Sorry for the delay,

my downstream equipment is protected with blocked outlet psv, i have no problem at downstream, problem is shut in tubing pressure of well is 250 barg and my design pressure of well fluid flow lines is 250 barg, do i need to provide fire case PSV for well fluid flow lines.

as per API RP 14C psv need not be provided if well fluid line design pressure is greater than shut in tubing pressure.

Please clarify my doubht.

I think that u have to specify possibility of a fire. If any, you have to think of a depressurizing device whether it be PSV or blow down valve (when the piping system can not tolerate relief temperature PSVs are useless making the blow down valve the remaining choice).

It is not clear whether, flow line is have manifold at gethering station. In event of multiple wells connected with the single manifold, It is requried to also consider any possible overpressure scenario from other wells.

As such margin is not provided above CITHP (SITHP) to get DP of the flow lines.
