Bronze is corrosion resistant in that environment. And it is not overly expensive.

Dear sir,

Our cooling water and chilled water system will have same TDS and pH.

For cooling water we are using cast iron impeller, for chilled water we are using bronze impeller. Why this difference?

Hi Chem32

HVAC vendor usually uses bronze impeller for the chilled water pumps. Maybe the material selection come from the diferent basis. for example piping can be referred to asme b31.1 for power plant and  b31.3 for process plant.
