In our MDEA sweetening units, we are using Plate Heat Exchangers to preheat Amine Regenerator feed. In 6 units out of 9 we have two PHE's per unit to cater to the full heat load. While in rest 3 units we have only one PHE for the total heat load. We are experiencing problem of unequal distribution of flow in split PHE's & these PHE's leak frequently. While single PHE's are working fine & leaks rarely. We are planning to replace 3 units PHE's out of 6 of split flow PHE's & in dilemma whether to go for the same split flow PHE's or the full flow PHE's. For changing the philosophy of split to full flow PHE, we need to convince our management by some solid reasoning. Is there any strong technical reason to install full flow PHE?
