Dear sirs,

We have to design an air preheater which heats 9800 scfm ambient air using saturated steam having 2.5 ata pressure. We have come across two different procedures for designing. One is from GPSA Engineering databook section 10 and another is from Process Heat Transfer Kern chapter 16 (similar to example16.5).

the heated air goes to a combustion chamber where furnace oil is being combusted. The air is supplied by a blower.

Which method should be adapted for this?Is there any different method/ standards for this design?

Is it necessary to follow API 661  Air Cooled Heat Exchangers for General refinery Service?

1 ton/hr of steam is available.

Thanks

Why do need to design such airpreheater yourself?

This kind of equipment is designed and supplied by specialised companies, such as for example GEA.

You only need to prepare a process data sheet and send it to such vendor, and they will send you a quote.

Dear PingPong,

We have got our own fabrication unit where we fabricate heat exchangers. We are planning to develop an in house Steam coil Air preheater.

Thank you
