A reactor is pressurised with air and regulated  at 12 psig. The water from reactor is then transferred from its bottom to the top of another adjacent vessel which is venting to the scrubber. Assuming that the pressure in reactor stays constant during the transfer (slow transfer), what is the flow rate of the air coming out of 2" vent pipe assuming that there is no pressure loss and the liquid ?

We tend not to want to do a student's homework for them, as that will often interfere with the educational value of the exercise. When you post a homework problem like this, help us help you effectively by posting more than just the problem statement. What parts of the problem do you understand? What have you tried that has not worked? What equations do you think you need for this problem? Sometimes, even a basic idea of where you are at in your studies will help us know what you should be expected to know.

As a nudge, I think the key to this problem will be -- what is the flow rate of the water from the reactor to the vessel?

Hi, it is a real time problem and not the homework. The scrubber is designed for 4.5 m3/h flow rate but I wanted to estimate what is the flow rate of air entering the scrubber from the data above. Will the flow rate of air be the same as that of liquid being transferred or different ? Is this as simple as displacement of the flow rate of liquid and air will be different ?

Thanks
