Dear friends

I have one question about the using the fire case for water service

As I know we calculate the fire case based on wetted area of vessel which is contain of HC

And we follow the API 520 and 521

Can we follow the API for the system which is filling by water? is it applicable to consider the fire scenario for water

We have deaerator package, in this package we have column and the media of this column is water at the top of this column we have psv ,

Can we said that fire case is one of the scenario that we should consider

Thanks

Hi,

If the vessel can be engulfed in a pool fire, fire case is a credible scenario for that vessel; no matter it contains water...

But, if there are no flammable materials around, not psv is required for fire. It's likely, though, that proper sizing for water input with closed outlet will dictate the size anyway.
