Hi, the ultrasonic flow meter of the flare in my industry is showing a very dynamic reading. It reads zero flow between 11:00 to 5:00 although there are no changes in the flow control during this time, also the the flow reading becomes 3 times higher than the normal flow rate at times. the cut-off velcoity of the meter is 0.03m/s & our flow rate just meets this cut-off. we are not able to figure out the possible casue of the meter showing zero flow during this specified time. What could be the possible reason. ?

The flare flow velocity may be vary for the identical mass flow because the flare gas volume may be changed with the ambient temperature.
